This report discusses the foreseen withdrawal of Israel from Gaza and parts of the northern West Bank and its potential impacts on the Middle East. The report describes the disengagement plan, analyses the diverse settler community, and assesses the resistance scenarios. The authors point out the role of the international community to ensure that the disengagement is complete and followed by a credible political process leading to further withdrawal and improvement in the Middle East peace process.
