This briefing argues that peace in northern Uganda is possible, if supported by a combination of local government, international community, and armed rebels. The authors discuss the position of the rebel Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) and its leader Joseph Kony, and present a comprehensive strategy for peace. The article also describes what kind of contributions are required from the international community in order to achieve a successful peace initiative and states that international mediation efforts need to be improved.
