This publication provides an analysis of the issues facing Central Asia and the Caucasus in October 2009. It includes articles on Central Asian female migrants, mining prospects in Mongolia, the war in Afghanistan and lessons from Asia regarding political change. It also includes field reports on Turkish-Armenian relations, the consequences of ethnic conflict in Xinjiang, India's Central Asia policy and Kyrgyz efforts to have the oral epic, Manas, included in UNESCO's World Heritage list. It concludes with a news digest featuring the most important news items from the region during the second half of October 2009.
