This paper examines the relationship between violent conflicts and oil. Topics discussed in the various articles include the oil wars in Sudan and the potential for oil conflicts in Chad. The authors also discuss what strategies industrialized countries can adopt towards such conflicts, with a particular focus on the role of Switzerland. The report concludes with a set of recommendations for a coherent peace policy, and reflections on the role of civil society.
