This publication assesses Syria's past foreign policy strategy and lays out the different options that Damascus has going forward. The author explains that Syria believes it can benefit from clinging to the status quo in the region, as it has allowed Damascus to acquire a regional role disproportionate to its actual size or resources. This paper also explores Syria's different strategic fronts, including its relationship with Iran and the US, and their possible evolution in the future. It also contains a list of recommendations for the Syrian government and for the US administration.
