This book combines theoretical research on issues of conflict prevention and management with a policy-relevant regional perspective on adversarial relations in Northeast Asia. It discusses the utility of different frameworks and approaches to conflict prevention regionally, explores whether China and Japans' emerging interests in Russian energy supplies bode ill for regional stability, and evaluates the state of cross-strait relations in the mid-2000s. The book also explores conflict prevention measures between North and South Korea, and presents a Japanese outlook on the geopolitical and security environment in Northeast Asia.
