This book provides an analysis of the issues underlying the ongoing internal conflicts in the Philippines, and of the interests and modus operandi of the parties involved. It situates such efforts by providing the historical context, so essential to understanding the motives of the groups and why conflict persists in the Philippines. The main focus of the book is ‘non-state armed groups’, and at the center of this book are the protagonists of the country’s two major internal armed conflicts: the nationwide Communist insurgency, and the Moro insurgency.
