This issue of the Russian Analytical Digest examines the current state of Russian studies in the West. The two high-profile authors offer their perspectives on the evolution of scholarship on Russia during the last two decades, consider whether we are any closer to understanding developments in contemporary Russia, and suggest the likely directions for future research.
