The featured article in this issue of the CTC Sentinel focuses on the technological arms race between terrorist bomb makers and those working to prevent such devices from being planted on airplanes. The publication also includes five additional articles which focus on 1) how US Special Forces have acted as a counterterrorism “force multiplier” for partnered African countries; 2) how Islamic State recruits from Europe are raising significant funds for the organization through microfinance techniques within the European Union; 3) why al-Qa`ida leader al-Zawahiri needs to subordinate himself to the Taliban leader Mullah Haibatullah Akhunzada; 4) the strategic topography of Southern Libya; and 5) how Bangladesh became fertile recruiting ground for al-Qa`ida and the Islamic State.
