This article discusses Russia's move away from Western countries and the possible consequences of this, both domestically and in the international arena. The author analyzes changes of relations between Russia and the West, the war in the Caucasus, the Russian-Ukraine gas conflict and explores possibilities for a national modernization in order to improve its foreign relations.
