With the recent 20th anniversary of the collapse of the Soviet Union, this bumper edition of Russian Analytical Digest retrospectively analyses events, developments and trends in Russian politics, economics, foreign policy and society over the last two decades, and considers their relevance for the future. The first article examines the experience of elections in the Russian Federation from the last years of the Soviet Union onward. The second analyzes the transformation of the Russian Federation from a centrally-planned socialist economy to a market capitalist one. The third investigates two decades of foreign policy-making in the Russian Federation. The final article considers the social/cultural legacy of the Soviet Union on modern day Russia.
