This note examines the scale and variation of stockpiles of firearms which are kept by private security companies (PSC) internationally. The author draws attention to the fact that oversight and transparency regarding these stockpiles is often slim and that in many countries, official standards for the management and safeguarding of PSC weapons, as well as for the training of PSC personnel, are non-existent.
