This paper examines the relationship between Turkey’s energy strategy and the country's wider geopolitical goals. Adopting a geopolitical analytical framework, it analyzes Turkey’s position in the region and its foreign policy aims. It describes energy geopolitics with the purpose of understanding the role that hydrocarbons and transit routes play in the foreign relations of a state. The author concludes that Turkey is using its favorable geopolitical position as a transit country for energy resources as a tool to attain its foreign policy objectives.
