This paper contains two articles on the role of Turkey and the Gulf Cooperation Council in the Mediterranean region. The first article discusses the Gulf Cooperation Council's engagement with the Mediterranean region. The Council's role is both ideational and material. The second article discusses Turkey's ambitions to act as a model and "order setter" in the Mediterranean.
