This issue includes analytical articles and field reports on various themes in the Central Asia-Caucasus region in October 2004. The articles analyze the importance of investments to Pakistan's economic rebound, Kazakhstan's parliamentary elections, the "deal of the century" between Azerbaijan and Turkey, and Russia's fight against terrorism after the Beslan attack. The field reports cover the division over water management between Kazakhstan and its neighbors, the precarious status of Kyrgyzstan's regime, security concerns before Afghanistan's elections, and Russian-Azerbaijan relations after the Beslan attack.
