This issue includes analytical articles and field reports on various themes in the Central Asia-Caucasus region in October 2004. The articles analyze the Abkhaz elections, Japanese initiatives in Central Asia, the inauguration of a Russian military base in Tajikistan, and Afghanistan's elections. The field reports cover the connecting of a pipeline by Azerbaijan and Georgia, Afghanistan's presidential elections, the security concerns in South Ossetia, and the "American threat" looming over Kazakh-Iranian talks.
