This report lays out a set steps intended to avoid a collapse of the fragile peace between Ethiopia and Eritrea agreed in Algiers in 2000. At the heart of the dispute is a ruling by the independent Boundary Commission established to demarcate the contested border. Ethiopia is refusing to accept the Commission's assignment of the border town of Badme to Eritrea without a proper dialog - one in which Eritrea is refusing to engage. The authors conclude that the Algiers Group (the African Union, EU, UN and US) who witnessed the original accords needs to renew its commitment to the peace process in a high profile way.
