This report provides an overview of issues facing the Central Asia-Caucasus region, with a particular focus on security-related topics. It includes a brief analysis of the increased number of Taliban attacks in Afghanistan triggered by the American and British invasion of Iraq, followed by a discussion of the potential challenges Azerbaijan’s prime minister will face from within the ruling elite of the country and an examination of Turco-American relations in regards to their conflicting Iraq policies. Furthermore, the report discusses worsening Kyrgyz-Uzbek relations and concludes with news bites and field reports from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Pakistan.
