This report provides an overview of issues facing the Central Asia-Caucasus region, with a particular focus on security-related topics. It includes a brief analysis of risks and possible mitigation strategies regarding Russian energy expansion in the Caucasus followed by a discussion of the Chinese connection to drug trade in Central Asia and an examination of Uzbek military reform. Furthermore, the report provides insights into Afghan government reforms put forth by President Karzai and concludes with news bites and field reports from Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan.
