This report provides an overview of issues facing the Central Asia-Caucasus region, with a particular focus on security-related topics. It explores how Western countries are stepping up pressure for democratization in the South Caucasus while further analyzing Pakistani-Afghan relations in light of a recent escalation of hostility. This is followed by a discussion of China’s poor water management and its impact on the country’s relations with Central Asia. Furthermore, the report examines what lessons the Chinese government can learn from Russia and its policies towards militant radicalism before concluding with news bites and field reports from Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan.
