According to this commentary, Turkey-EU relations are on an upward trajectory. This is due to the arrival of François Hollande at the Elysée as well as a push from Brussels. Where this upturn in bilateral relations will lead is far from certain, however. With Turkey concerned with issues like the demands of the Kurdish community and the civil war in neighboring Syria and the EU facing the challenges of the eurozone crisis, enlargement is simply not a top agenda item.
