The article examines the EU's response to the Arab Spring. The author argues that the EU must be given credit for responding to the Arab Spring by placing democracy and sustainable development at the forefront of its policy agenda, and reviewing, enhancing, and at times replacing its policies toward its South. Nevertheless much remains to be done in the establishment of effective multilateral policy instruments.
