In this brief, the author analyzes youth participation in the mobilization of early 2011 in the southern Mediterranean. The author focuses on the relationship of political and economic dynamics and the youth activism. She concludes that in order for youth groups to play a more effective role in influencing the pace of political reform in these countries, they must succeed in creating well-organized structures with a clear leadership.
