The January 2011 uprising and transition in Egypt represent an essential milestone in the country's political development. At its inception, the uprising was not related to foreign policy and is unlikely to have much bearing on relations abroad in the immediate future. But whatever the end result of the transition is, it will affect Egyptian foreign policy in the years to come. The paper assesses where change could come from and what degree of change is foreseeable in such a volatile internal situation.
