This report evaluates China's influence on North Korea and analyzes Chinese-North Korean relations since the early 20th century. The authors argue that while China shares the goal of North Korea's denuclearization, it is averse to using coercion. This might prompt North Korea's instability and threaten relations between the two countries. The report stresses the crucial role China must play in reducing the North Korean nuclear threat.
