This special RAD issue on Russia’s Foreign Economic Relations was developed by teams of American and Russian authors working under the aegis of the Yegor Gaidar Fellowship Program in Economics. In the first article, Ksenia Kushkina and Edward Chow consider the prospects of expanding Russian gas exports to China. They conclude that Russian companies should not be overly optimistic about expanding their business in this dynamic market. In the second article, Viacheslav Evseev and Ross Wilson analyze the positive and negative impacts of Russia’s World Trade Organization accession on its economy. In the third article, Konstantin Borisov and Timothy Frye compare the foreign trade policies of Russia and the US, paying particular attention to the ways that their government and private sectors seek to support investment.
