The success of the Iron Dome system in the confrontation between Israel and Hamas in fall 2012 inevitably has significance for Israel’s posture toward Hizbollah and, crucially, Iran. For its part, Hamas can also claim a major triumph: whatever else it turns out to be, the new order does not look kind to the non-Islamist side of the Palestinian national movement. The report looks at the conflict situation from both the Israeli and Palestinian perspective and also discusses Egypt’s role.
