The size and armament of law enforcement agencies change continuously, typically increasing as population and wealth grow. Of the roughly 875 million firearms in the world, in virtually all large countries law enforcement weapons are the most visible in public. In most countries, only the number of law enforcement personnel can be determined and the number of law enforcement weapons must be estimated.
