This brief takes a retrospective look at the disarmament, demobilization, and reintegration (DDR) processes undertaken in the Democratic Republic of Congo between 2004 and 2011. In doing so, it seeks to provide lessons learned that might be applied to the country's current problems, which include disarming and demobilizing the M23 rebels.
