This commentary examines the relationship between Germany and Turkey. Given Germany's position in the EU and its large Turkish population, it is the central actor in Turkey-EU relations. The author argues that Germany is the key in the decision to accept Turkey into the EU, but the German government is lukewarm on the issue. Turkey might be able to improve the situation, but it will have to deal with migration controls.
