This briefing considers the positioning of different political parties in Afghanistan. Using interviews with political leaders and other stakeholders, the author analyzes the ability and willingness of the various parties to shape Afghanistan's transition into the post-Karzai era. The briefing also includes interviews with insurgents in an attempt to assess Taliban attitudes toward the party system.
