This issue of the CAD examines the October 2013 presidential elections held in Azerbaijan. The first two articles overview the election strategies pursued by the ruling party and its opposition, while the third article analyzes the 'meaning' of these elections for different groups within the country. The overall conclusion seems to be that even though the outcome was predictable, the elections nevertheless fulfilled important objectives for President Aliyev, the ruling party, and the opposition.
