This paper argues that the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) in the US should expand its mental health care resources to meet the growing needs of veterans. The author says that while the VA already spends seven billion dollars on mental health care, the resources it provides are insufficient for the needs of veterans. He suggests that the situation could be improved if the VA were to rely more on the private sector and work more closely with local community and private philanthropic organizations.
