In this brief, the author argues that strengthening the EU's web of partnerships with the UN and regional organizations is essential for Europe’s security. To improve the EU's role in civilian and military crisis management, he suggest that: 1) the EU should make CSDP missions more flexible and integrate them into the efforts of other organizations; 2) the new EEAS should think about how to use the network of EU delegations to get help to the UN and other partners more effectively; and 3) European officials should consider making investments in sharing ideas and lessons from the EU’s past experience in crisis management with regional organizations.
