This brief addresses the EU-Algeria relationship and analyzes how Europe can keep Algeria engaged in this partnership despite the pressure put on it by the increasing instability in Mali. The author argues that an intervention in Mali risks damaging the EU’s relationship with Algeria and concludes with a set or recommendations on how the EU could further engage with Algeria including an approach in which its member states pool their resources and use a joint approach.
