This paper explores energy relations between Turkey and the EU in the context of the country's EU accession talks. The authors argue that the two partners could clearly benefit from closer cooperation on energy security and recommend that Ankara adopt the EU energy acquis. Doing this, they argue, would benefit the country and act as a safeguard against regional suppliers abusing their dominant positions, without undermining Turkey’s negotiating position with the EU on eventual EU membership.
