This paper compares EU and Turkish asylum practices and identifies some areas where the two actors could work together on refugee policy in general, and on the Syrian refugee crisis in particular. The author argues that Turkey’s asylum policy presents a valuable example of how to uphold a humanitarian approach in a situation of large refugee inflows, such as the Syrian refugee crisis. She then discusses what EU member states could learn from Turkey's refugee practices as well as how they could assist Turkey in providing more effectively for refugees.
