Drawing on results of a survey conducted with 16 Nepali businesses, this article explores the challenges faced by Nepal’s business community and the extent to which crime affects commerce in the country. It finds that although Nepal’s economy has shown signs of growth and renewed investment, the volatile political situation and persistent criminal activities continue to harm the business sector. It also finds that there is a large interest in public-private partnerships on security.
