This working paper investigates how peace talks are affected by the presence of women. It also questions the effectiveness of feminist academic and policy literature on this topic, including advocacy campaigns pushing for greater representation and participation of women at the peace table. The research finds that the presence of women does make a difference in peace talks, but that it does not necessarily lead discussions towards negotiated settlements. The author then talks about what she thinks should be done to move the debate on from women and quotas towards discussions on more effective peace talks including both men and women.
