This paper focuses on the recently restarted negotiations to resolve the Cyprus impasse. More specifically, it argues that both sides should consider -- at least at the informal level -- the possibility of a truly independent Turkish enclave existing on the island. However, whether such an agreement is feasible or not would depend on the 'horse trading' done by both sides, particularly in the case of granting Turkish Cypriots access to the European Union.
