This report examines Hizbollah's involvement in Syria's civil war, including the reasons for its intervention in the conflict and support of the Assad regime as well as the trade-offs involved in the group’s growing role in its neighbor’s war. The authors argue that the group has dislodged rebels from areas adjacent to Lebanon’s borders and helped save the Assad regime form military defeat, but at the cost of losing much of the support it enjoyed throughout the region when it fought Israel and of increasing regional sectarian divides.
