This document presents a collection of articles discussing the relevance and implications of the 2009 Iranian presidential election and the widespread protests that followed it. Individual contributions examine 1) the irregularities that surfaced as a result of the election; 2) the impact of alternative means of communication on the election and its aftermath; 3) the costs and benefits of western support for anti-regime protesters in Iran; 4) the role of Iranian women’s rights movements in the post-election crisis; 5) the consequences of the election and the ensuing disturbances; and 6) the implications of Ahmadinejad’s electoral victory for Iran’s nuclear aspirations.
