This report reviews the main features of the education reform process which started in 2010 in Pakistan when provincial governments became responsible for education policy, planning and curriculum. The authors address the shortcomings of Pakistan’s education system, emphasizing its role in the radicalization of young people and its incapacity to prepare them for the job market. They also focus on issues such as the need to reform the curriculum, which they say promotes xenophobia and religious intolerance - and the controversy regarding which language should be used to teach.
