This brief examines the conflict between Israel and Hamas which started in July 2014 and potential scenarios that could lead to the end of the fighting. The authors also address how the two sides perceive the conflict and provide a number of recommendations for international stakeholders as well as Israel, Hamas and the Palestinian Authority on how to achieve a permanent Israel-Gaza ceasefire.
