The authors of this paper argue that the apparent end of the street protests in Venezuela over several months in 2014 does not mean the end of the country's crisis. They argue that the economic problems and unaddressed political demands could lead to renewed violence and threaten national stability. They then outline some of the ways to address the root causes of the crisis that, if left to fester, might well worsen, with repercussions beyond Venezuela.
