This brief argues that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the UN General Assembly and subsequent meetings with US President Barack Obama in September 2014 represent a key opportunity for the US and India to recharge a critical bilateral relationship after several years of stagnation and a divisive diplomatic rows. The author then lays out a set of recommendations on how India and the US should go about improving their economic ties and defense relations.
