This report examines the potential roles that swarms of autonomous and/or unmanned robotic systems might play in future military operations. Then, it recommends ways for the US to maintain its military dominance in battlefields that will most likely be characterized by swarm-centered tactics, enhanced intelligence gathering, superior coordination and faster operating tempos. Finally, the report reminds us that swarm technologies will not win wars without viable concepts of operation and effective training.
