This brief analyzes various dimensions of the illicit trade in small arms in eastern Nepal. The author analyzes the sources of illicit small arms, the methods of smuggling and routes used, the consumers and actors involved as well as relevant government policies. He concludes that one of the measures to combat the proliferation of illicit small arms is tightening the patrol of the Nepal-India border, the principal entry point for smuggled firearms.
