This paper argues that Russia's 2014 annexation of Crimea has forced the EU to confront an uncomfortable truth -- its post-modern order is not going to take over the continent, let alone the world. As a result, and in order to better co–exist with Russia, Brussels should consolidate its own political domains and cooperate with Russia’s own integration project, the Eurasian Union. The latter suggestion, although seemingly controversial, offers the best chance of shifting Russia’s focus from the military to the economic sphere.
