This issue includes articles on 1) insurgent violence in Chechnya; 2) the increasing traction by the terrorist organization Islamic State among Central Asian militants; 3) Armenian-Azerbaijani confrontations in the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh region; and 4) the implications which the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) between Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia will have for Western countries. The issue also contains field reports on 1) the increased level of commercial and economic ties between Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan; 2) the ongoing crisis over the Nagorno-Karabakh region after an Armenian helicopter was shot down by Azerbaijan; 3) the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict resolution process; and 4) the Georgian government’s controversial law on surveillance and eavesdropping.
